Trip to Ajanta & Ellora Caves

Day 01 -
Arrive Mumbai

Arrive Mumbai airport, meet & greet with our representative who will assist & give you briefing about your tour & transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02 -
Mumbai (Bombay)

Gateway of IndiaHave breakfast at Hotel. Afterwards start sightseeing of some interesting places of Mumbai, visit; Elephanta Caves, take ferry to reach at Elephanta Island. These caves are good example of rock cut caves architecture. There is one main cave with a number of large sculptured panels, all relating to Shiva. Later back to  city to explore another attractions of Mumbai, visit; Prince of Wales Museum, Gateway of India,Mani Bhavan, Dhobi Ghats, Haji Ali Mosque, Marine Drive & Chowpatty Beach. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03
Mumbai – Kanhari Caves – Mumbai

Ajanta CavesMorning after breakfast, visit 02nd to 09th centuries Kanhari caves, which is situated in the heart of Borivali National Park at Mumbai & were engraved by Buddhist monks.  Later back to hotel. Evening enjoy Pani Puri at one the most famous spot of Mumbai at Gate way of India & take a stroll nearby the beaches. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 04
Mumbai – Karla & Bhaja Caves – Pune (Approx 163 Kms – 03 ½ Hrs)

Today after breakfast drive to Pune stopping en route to visit Karla caves, the largest early Buddhist chaitya (Shrine) in India. This chaitya is around 15 meter high & 40 meter long, carved by monks. After that visit Bhaja caves, thought to date from around 200 BC, containing a simple dagoba but no sculpture. Continue drive to Pune. Upon arrival, check in at Hotel. Afterwards sightseeing of Pune. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 05
Pune – Aurangabad (Approx 226 Kms – 05 Hrs)

AurangabadMorning after breakfast, drive to Aurangabad. Arrive Aurangabad & check in to Hotel. Day is free for own activities. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 06
AurangabadAjanta (102 Km) – Aurangabad

Ajanta CavesToday take an excursion to Ajanta, which is famous for rock cut halls & monasteries. The 29 caves are cut into the steep face of a horseshoe – shaped rock gorge on the Waghore River. They are sequentially numbered from one end of the defile to the other, but do not follow a chronological order; the oldest are mainly in the middle and the newer ones are close to each end. Five of the caves are chityas while the other 25 are viharas. Caves 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13 are older early Buddhist caves, while the others are Mahayana. Later back to Aurangabad. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 07
Aurangabad – Ellora (28 Km) – Aurangabad

Ellora CavesMorning after breakfast visit Ellora Caves, which is an world heritage site & famous group of Buddhist, Jain & Hindu rock cut caves temples. There are 35 caves at Ellora. 12 Buddhist, 17 Hindu & 05 Jain. Later back to Aurangabad, en route visit; Daulatabad & Bibi – Ka – Maqbara. Overnight at Hotel.
 

Day 08
Aurangabad – Mumbai (Departure)

After breakfast provide in time transfer to airport to board flight for Mumbai. Arrive Mumbai & transfer to international airport to catch flight for onwards destination.
